Welcome to The Puppy Parenting Academy

Personalized 1:1 puppy training program for puppy parents ready to finally get their calm days back and raise their dream dog

The Puppy Parenting Academy includes customized schedules, daily text message support, and lifetime 1:1 training so you never have to worry about running out of sessions, or reinvesting if future challenges pop up

This is the only investment you need to make so you can enjoy your puppy whether you’re snuggled up  on the couch, hitting deadlines at work, or sipping your favorite beverage at your favorite dog friendly restaurant

THIS IS FOR YOU IF:

A. You've recently welcomed a new puppy into your life

You're trying to work from home but muting yourself every 2 seconds to chase them around

You're dodging their biting and counting down until the next nap

When they nap, you're rushing to get everything you need to get done, done, because you can't when they're awake because your days are so chaotic, and you're anxious about falling behind with work and everything on your to do list piling up

You've barely been able to make yourself a real meal or sit on the couch since bringing them home without being on constant vigilance and looking around for them

You've done your research and implemented the advice you've been given:

redirect to a toy

walk away

say "no, leave it"

but it either riles them up more, or they stop for 2 seconds, but the next time bite again, but you're not seeing change day over day

You are a hard worker, a perfectionist and you want to get ahead of things before they become a bigger issue

to enjoy your puppy, get time back for you, your partner

to be able to actually work and no longer feel like your days are chaos from the moment you wake up to the moment you go to bed

to be able to calmly coexist with them and work from home with them calmly playing with their own toys

to be able to sit on the couch and watch a show with them snuggled up next to you without having to worry about all the mischief they're getting into

And on top of that, to train them to be the well behaved companion that you can take everywhere that lets you, whether it's on a walk, to the farmers market, a friends house, or the dog friendly restaurant. You want the go everywhere adventure buddy you can do everything with

And you're all in, highly motivated, and willing to do whatever it takes to get there

B. You're about to welcome a new puppy into your life

You're highly motivated to train your puppy and willing to do whatever it takes to train them well

You're doing your research, saving videos, reading articles, but as you gather the information, you're more confused than ever on how to actually implement everything

and you want to do things right from the beginning and would rather invest in learning what to do from day one, and do things right from the beginning, rather than having to correct certain behaviors 3-4 months down the road

Having a well trained dog isn't really an option for you

BUT you want to know what to do, when to do it, for your dog specifically, and your lifestyle, so you can be confident that you're training them correctly, while having time for you

You're so ready and excited to see progress with your puppy's behavior now, but you're also future focused

You also want them to be leash trained

You want them to be well behaved in public

You want to be able to take them to the dog friendly restaurant with them sitting by your feet, or on a hike when the weather is nice

You want to be the person that other dog owners look at and say "damn I wish my puppy was that good" and through everything, you know puppy training isn't linear

You expect there to be hurdles, bumps in the road, but you want someone who will hold you and support you through every moment, both now and in the future, because you're also future focused

You value long term support

You know that you're going to go through so many phases with your puppy, and you want the confidence of knowing that you have somebody who knows you and your puppy that you can go to when things do come up

WHAT THE PUPPY PARENTING ACADEMY HAS DONE FOR OUR CLIENTS

"Within a week of implementing this plan we saw improvements, and after being consistent for several weeks it felt like we owned a different dog! She is now 5 months old and blends into our lives so well."

"My husband and I came to Brittany with our 3 month old Chocolate Lab puppy in desperate need of help. We loved our puppy so much, but she was driving us crazy on so many levels and causing us more stress than happiness; which is not what we envisioned for ourselves when we got her. After getting a detailed idea of our lives and goals, she made a plan for us that was doable and tackled the many problems we were facing with our puppy. Within a week of implementing this plan we saw improvements, and after being consistent for several weeks it felt like we owned a different dog! She is now 5 months old and blends into our lives so well. We are genuinely enjoying our time with her, and we really did not know if we would get there before working with Brittany.

Brittany’s knowledge, patience, and responsiveness set her apart from other trainers that may have you buy a few sessions with them and that’s all they do. Brittany has truly been a partner with us in parenting our puppy and her support and direction has been life changing for us. We really do not know what we would do without her, and we are so happy and excited to have her on our team as we continue to meet the goals we have for our puppy as she continues to grow up!"

"Within two weeks, our pup was behaving better and we'd gotten rid of all the puppy pain points (chewing, play biting, whining in the crate, potty training) almost entirely."

"We joined Brittany's program about a week after we brought our puppy home. We wanted to have a dog that would be a member of our family and that we could enjoy and bring everywhere without wondering if he was going to behave or not. Brittany was responsive from the get go and always gave us personalized treatment despite having many clients. Within two weeks, our pup was behaving better and we'd gotten rid of all the puppy pain points (chewing, play biting, whining in the crate, potty training) almost entirely."

"In only a matter of days, we were able to get Elliot to take naps in his crate for several hours and eliminate his puppy biting."

"I got my 9-week-old Cavalier puppy during my second year of law school. I grew up with two large dogs, so I thought I knew what to expect when I picked up my puppy. I realized that was not the case three days after bringing him home. I was overwhelmed with school and a brand-new puppy.

After a day or two, I realized I was in over my head and needed help. On Elliot’s third day home, I contacted Brittany. Being in school, I needed a trainer who could accommodate my schedule and someone I could communicate with consistently on my puppy’s training. I also wanted a trainer who used positive, reward-based training methods that focused on correcting the underlying issue instead of trying to get a “quick fix.” Brittany checked all these boxes and more. Within a few days of reaching out to Brittany, she pulled together a schedule for Elliot and me to follow by incorporating my class schedule with his needs and training. In only a matter of days, we were able to get Elliot to take naps in his crate for several hours and eliminate his puppy biting. In addition, within a couple of weeks, my puppy could play with his toys and keep himself entertained while I completed schoolwork. With Brittany’s help, I could return to my studies schedule seamlessly. Within this short time frame, the painful parts of puppyhood were behind us, and I could enjoy hanging out with my puppy while watching a movie or completing work.

After accomplishing these goals, we could focus on other training items, such as leash training and other commands. At less than five months old, I could confidently take Elliot on a walk without any pulling and bring him with me in public. I am constantly being complimented on how well-behaved he is. With Brittany’s help, I have quickly achieved the days that I fantasized about when I pictured having a puppy in my life. Brittany has been there to support Elliot and me every step of the process and is there to answer any questions I have. To anyone on the fence, I HIGHLY recommend working with Brittany."

THE PROVEN PROCESS

I walk my clients through what I call my 3 phase success pathway

And each part of this is customized to you, your puppy, and your schedule

WHERE WE START/ PHASE ONE

Phase 1 is all about working through the behaviors that are causing you the most stress

Within 48 hours of working together, I watch you and your puppy interacting together on video. I want to see their behavior, how you're responding, how they're responding to you when you're trying to redirect them, so that I can see exactly what needs to change

Then I'll talk to you in depth about what you've tried, your schedule, etc

From there, I will build you a customized training plan based on what I saw your individual puppy needs to work through these behaviors

BUT I don't just give you tips or advice. I build it all into your schedule

So I will look at appointments you have, meetings, times you want to yourself to go to the gym, meal prep, spend time with your partner. And I will take the training I just customized to your puppy, but build it into your schedule

So each day you know exactly what to do, when to do it, and don't even have to think about it

You will also have my cell phone number, so as you begin implementing the schedule and training, as soon as questions come up, you text me. Any day, so I can help you implement and adjust, without you ever being left on your own

This is where you’ll see them bite less, and be calm more. You’ll be able to work, watch a show or movie, cook dinner, with them independently playing with their own toys, or relaxing

You’ll be able to peacefully coexist with them, without every moment being consumed by the biting, or barking. They’ll be able to be calm with you, AND play with you without any biting

We eliminate everything that you don’t need to teach your puppy to stop biting, barking, etc, narrow our focus, and simplify it, until you’re feeling happy in your days with them and not stressed

PHASE TWO

Once your puppy is no longer biting, barking, etc (aka no longer driving you insane), we start working on command training, leash skills, and teaching your puppy to have self control and be calm, whether you’re at home, or on walks

Your puppy will:

  • Be confident with basic commands (the commands we teach will look different for your puppy, and the things you want to work on)

  • Have self control on leash, and be able to walk calmly, without pulling, or barking at dogs/people they see

  • Greet your guests calmly, without any jumping, barking or nipping

PHASE 3

This is where we really focus on working on self control and calm behavior in distracting environments

You'll be able to take your puppy to the dog friendly restaurants, breweries, to the beach, on hikes, and have this incredible companion that you can do things with, and be confident in, whether you're hanging out at home and having a chill day, or going out to your favorite outdoor restaurant on a nice day

Throughout all of these phases, we continue to adjust your training schedule, based on your schedule for that week, things you have going on, and what we're working on, and you have access to me 7 days per week for any questions

FAQ

1. How does this work virtually?

You know how kids always act slightly different with their parents vs a babysitter, or their teacher at school? it's almost like they're on their best behavior there, and become a menace at home...

your puppy does the exact same thing

so when I did in person training, I would go to somebody's house or meet them at a park and suddenly, the dog was acting totally different with me there than they were the 99% of the time it was just them and the owner, NOT during a training session

so in that scenario, I would go home, and FaceTime my client. I'd tell them "prop your phone up and interact with your puppy as normal. Act like I'm not here"

NOW, the puppy was acting exactly the same as they always are, NOT during a training session

I could see exactly what they were doing, how the owner was responding: how the puppy was responding to the owner, and tailor the training to the real behavior my client is experiencing day to day, not the altered behavior during a one hour session when they're distracted by me

and suddenly, they saw progress 10x faster

The other benefit of online training is you're never on your own

You're not left practicing with a trainer once per week just to go home and have your puppy not listen as well to you, or have a question come up and have to wait until next week to get support for how to work through it

At any point, you can take 30 seconds, prop your phone up, record what's happening in real time, OR just text me a question, and we work through it right then and there, any day of the week

2. How is this different from puppy class or weekly sessions? Why does it work better?

First, you get support when you need it, and we adjust in real time

Most puppy training offers once weekly sessions, OR if you have support in between sessions, it's with someone on call or you're waiting 3-4 days for a response

All of that leaves you wondering "how do I handle this?" and trying to figure things out on your own in between sessions, while you wait for a response, OR taking 15 minutes to re-explain what you're working on to someone on call, who doesn't know your puppy, therefore is probably giving you generic advice you've already seen online and tried that hasn't worked for you

My clients text me when things come up, in real time

On a Sunday morning, when they re sipping their coffee and their puppy is biting more, and they're wondering what to change

On a Wednesday when they're working on training, their puppy doesn't seem to be getting it, and they want to make sure they're doing it right.

They're never left on their own to try to figure out what to do or overloaded with conflicting information, no matter what day of the week it is or what we're working on

Second, everything is customized to your puppy and you

You can have tips: "work on this command twice / day"

"do crate naps for this long"

but if it doesn't match your work hours, and your puppy's specific needs. the day still feels chaotic...

like you're just trying to fit it all in somehow, while trying to figure out how to still work, and live

I don't just give you information, I build it into your daily schedule

Each week I look at your schedule for every day that week

  • meetings

  • appointments

  • gym time

  • down time

  • date night

paired with your puppy's needs, and build you a custom schedule

so you know what to do every moment of every day, with no guess work, no second guessing

Third, we address root causes, not just behavior, using my Root Cause Method ™

Most training focuses on stopping the behavior in the moment

  • Redirect the biting (to which you do but they are more interested in biting

  • Walk away (to which they chase you and grab your ankles or pant leg)

  • Ignore the bark (to which you do and they stop, maybe, but the next time you sit on the couch, they bark again)

But all that does is get your puppy to stop in the moment. It doesn't teach them what to do instead the next time, so the behavior comes back, which is why you're not seeing progress yet day over day

We look at:

  • Why the behavior is happening

  • What your puppy is trying to tell us through the behavior (do they want attention? are they bored? are they anxious?)

Then teach your puppy what to do instead to communicate that same thing without biting/barking/jumping/etc

They now understand how to communicate with you so they don't have a reason to bite you, bark, etc and it stops (within days)

Lastly, you never run out of time

Most programs give you a set number of sessions

If you're not where you want to be by the end, you have to do the rest on your own or reinvest

With me, you have access for as long as you own your puppy. We work through what's most overwhelming first, then keep building toward the rest of your goals, training your puppy to be the one you can take everywhere, who's calm with guests, who makes walks enjoyable instead of stressful

And if something comes up down the road (adolescence, a new baby, a move) and your dog struggles with the change, you're not starting over with someone who doesn't know your dog. You just text me

No reinvesting. No running out of sessions. No being left on your own.

This is the only investment you need to set you and your puppy up for a lifetime of ease, and adventures together
